Chargemap – The European Leader Simplifying EV Charging

With over 800,000 charging points listed across Europe, Chargemap has established itself as the go-to solution for electric vehicle charging. Its digital ecosystem is built around three complementary platforms:

  • Chargemap Drivers: The leading web app for EV drivers, with over 2.8 million users
  • Chargemap Business: The all-in-one solution for managing corporate EV fleet charging
  • Chargemap Partners: The platform for charging station operators to boost profitability

Faced with rapid growth and constant changes in the electric mobility market, Chargemap needed a complete redesign of its digital ecosystem to maintain its position as the European leader and support its international expansion.

Strategic Objective → Empower Teams and Support European Expansion

The challenge posed by Chargemap was complex: transform three critical platforms to give more autonomy to marketing and design teams while managing sustained international growth. This ambitious approach required a partner capable of handling Enterprise-level technical requirements while understanding the operational needs of business teams.

Our collaboration with Chargemap unfolded across three consecutive projects, each presenting its own technical challenges while contributing to a consistent overarching vision.

Project 1: Chargemap Drivers – Hybrid Webflow Enterprise Architecture with 25 Locales

Objective: Empower teams on a high-traffic site

Chargemap Drivers was the most technically demanding project of the collaboration. With over 200,000 monthly visitors and a pan-European audience, the key challenge was enabling the marketing and content teams to manage the site independently—without relying on developers for every change.

The existing site had major limitations that slowed down team agility. Fully hardcoded, it required technical skills for even the simplest content updates. Additionally, the language-based subdomain architecture (fr.chargemap.com, en.chargemap.com) reduced the SEO authority of the main domain and complicated multilingual content management.

Chargemap’s European expansion also required scaling from 8 to 25 locales, with specific geographic targets like fr-fr (France), fr-be (French-speaking Belgium), and de-at (Austria).

Overcoming the Technical Challenges

The migration to Webflow Enterprise required a sophisticated technical approach to maintain service continuity. We coordinated closely with Chargemap’s tech teams to implement a hybrid architecture using reverse proxies.

Key Technical Challenges:

  • Gradual migration from 8 to 25 locales with geographic specificity (fr-fr, fr-be, de-at)
  • Shift from subdomains to subfolders to improve SEO domain authority
  • Hybrid architecture with reverse proxy to combine Webflow pages and custom development
  • Full migration of the blog from a subdomain to the main site

One of the most complex challenges was the SEO migration. Moving from subdomains to a subfolder structure (/fr-fr/, /en-gb/, /de-de/) posed significant SEO risks.

International SEO Strategy:

  • Precise 301 redirects to preserve SEO equity
  • Full overhaul of hreflang tags for 25 European locales
  • Restructuring structured data and canonical tags
  • Domain authority consolidation under chargemap.com

Webflow Localize at Enterprise Scale

Implementing 25 locales using Webflow Localize pushed the tool to its limits. We developed a rigorous methodology to ensure content consistency across all languages and regions.

API integrations for dynamic data (number of users, charging points, customer reviews) ensured that content remained fresh without manual updates—reinforcing brand credibility.

Results: Autonomy and Performance Delivered

Migrating to Webflow Enterprise transformed how Chargemap’s teams operate. The marketing team can now create and edit content instantly, test new approaches quickly, and tailor messaging to each European market.

Technical performance also improved dramatically. The site now efficiently handles its 200,000 monthly visitors, with optimized load times and a seamless user experience across all 25 locales.

Project 2: Chargemap Business – WordPress Migration and Collaborative Design

First Project: Laying the Foundation for Collaboration

Our partnership with Chargemap began with the redesign of Chargemap Business, their platform for enterprise clients. This two-month project allowed us to build trust and showcase our WordPress-to-Webflow migration expertise.

Chargemap already had highly capable marketing, design, and technical teams, but their old WordPress site hindered operational agility. The design team wanted a fully modern UI while maintaining the ability to iterate rapidly.

Key objectives behind the redesign:

  • Enable marketing to quickly test new go-to-market strategies
  • Allow designers to work directly on the interface without relying on developers
  • Ensure SEO is preserved or improved during migration
  • Enhance UX with a faster, more performant site

Complete Redesign While Preserving Content

Rather than a simple migration, this was a full redesign. We worked closely with Chargemap’s design team to rethink the entire user experience.$

WordPress to Webflow Migration Challenges:

  • Migration of 40 static pages and 3 dynamic pages in 3 languages
  • Transfer of nearly 100 WordPress CMS items into Webflow CMS
  • Full migration of the WordPress blog into Webflow CMS
  • SEO equity preserved through optimized URL structure

This content migration required a complete information architecture overhaul to align with the new design ambitions while preserving SEO value.

Marketing Integrations and Team Autonomy

A key goal was enabling the marketing team to operate independently. We integrated Chargemap’s key tools (Pipedrive for CRM and Plezi for marketing automation) directly into Webflow forms.

Autonomy Goals Achieved:

  • Instant content creation and editing by marketing teams
  • Rapid testing of new approaches without developer support
  • Seamless design collaboration through direct interface editing
  • CRM and marketing automation integrations to boost conversions

Tangible Impact on Business Performance

Beyond technical improvements, the migration had direct business benefits:

  • Faster time-to-market for new offerings and features
  • Stronger consistency across all language versions
  • Reduced maintenance costs thanks to team autonomy
  • Improved conversions through optimized user experience

This project proved that Webflow is not just a site builder—it’s an enterprise-grade platform built to meet the needs of demanding organizations.

Client Testimonial and Business Impact

The site now generates around 5,000 monthly visitors with a conversion rate improved by the new user experience and streamlined marketing integrations.

Project 3: Chargemap Partners – Smart Duplication and Efficiency Gains

Strategy: Build on Existing Foundations

For Chargemap Partners, we took an innovative approach by leveraging the solid base created with Chargemap Business. Rather than starting from scratch, we duplicated the Webflow architecture from Business and adapted it to suit charging station operators.

This allowed us to deliver the project in just 1 month while creating a distinct visual identity perfectly tailored to this new audience.

Adaptation and Customization

Though based on the Business platform, Chargemap Partners required significant customization to meet the specific needs of operators.

Smart Duplication Strategy:

  • Duplicated Webflow Business architecture as a solid base
  • Customized design variables and adapted CSS classes
  • Reworked components for station operators
  • Delivered a new, unique visual identity in just 1 month

The platform also supports 3 languages (French, English, German) with the same consistency as Business—allowing Chargemap to reach operators across Europe.

Optimized WordPress Migration

Thanks to the experience gained during Business, the WordPress content migration to Webflow went smoothly.

Benefits of Experience:

  • Applied proven methodologies from Business
  • Streamlined processes through previous learnings
  • Accelerated content migration with minimal risk
  • Easier team training thanks to familiar tooling

The site now attracts around 1,000 monthly visitors—a qualified audience of charging station operators who can find all the tools they need to optimize the profitability of their installations.

The Power of an Ecosystem Approach

Unified Vision and Technical Coherence

Our collaboration with Chargemap illustrates the benefits of an ecosystem approach. By working on all three platforms in succession, we were able to establish strong technical coherence while respecting the unique needs of each target audience.

This global vision enabled significant economies of scale, both in development and long-term maintenance. Chargemap’s teams now benefit from cross-training on Webflow, empowering them to manage their entire digital ecosystem independently.

A Trust-Based Relationship that Delivers Results

The fact that Chargemap entrusted us with three major projects in a row speaks volumes about the quality of our support and our ability to deliver results. This trust enabled us to become a true strategic partner.

The autonomy gained by internal teams and the technical flexibility offered by Webflow now allow Chargemap to support its European growth while remaining agile and innovative.

Performance and Scalability

The entire ecosystem now handles over 300,000 monthly visitors with optimal performance. This solid technical foundation enables Chargemap to confidently plan future expansion and integrate new features as the electric mobility market evolves.

Conclusion: Webflow Enterprise in Service of European Ambition

This collaboration proves that Webflow Enterprise can meet the demands of European market leaders—even in the face of complex technical requirements and high traffic volumes.

From managing 25 locales with reverse proxy to seamless WordPress migrations, we continue to support Chargemap’s digital transformation at a continental scale.

This ecosystem approach reflects our core philosophy: build robust technical solutions that empower teams and drive business growth. Chargemap can now focus on its mission—revolutionizing electric mobility in Europe—supported by a high-performing and scalable digital ecosystem.
